Developing a Visual Interactive Search History Exploration System
نویسنده
چکیده
MOTIVATION Visualizing search histories and supplying the user with interaction methods such as zooming, brushing and linking, annotation and tagging, has attracted increasing attention in scientific literature (Liu, Hong, & Pedersen, 2010), (Pedersen, Gyllstrom, Gu, & Hong, 2010), (Cernea, Truderung, Kerren, & Ebert, 2013), and (Yu & Ingalls, 2011). The overall assumption is that the user’s information seeking process often is divided into separate sessions, and that search histories can help finding the point of discontinuation and ease resuming the interrupted process. The several search sessions that belong together are defined as trails.

Interactive History with Learning Affordance for Knowledge Construction in Web-based Learning
The main problem addressed in this paper is how to help learners construct knowledge in exploring existing hypermedia/hypertext based learning resources on the Web. Our approach to this problem is to provide a learning tool, which affords knowledge construction activities involving reflection on the exploration process. In this paper, we describe an interactive history that encourages learners ...
متن کاملA Study on Interactive Visualization for Web Information Retrieval
Although Web search has become the primary means by which people find and access information on the Web, the interfaces used by the top Web search engines have changed very little since the early days of the Web. Little support is provided for the tasks of crafting and refining queries, and subsequently exploring search results sets. The goal of this research is to explore methods by which inte...
متن کاملTowards a Better VIEW: Visual Information Exploration on the Web
Given common search interfaces, it is difficult to gain orientation within large information spaces and explore information along conceptual dimensions such as time, location, and topics. In this thesis, I develop the idea of visual information exploration on the Web (VIEW) that aims to support a more active way of finding and exploring information by the means of coordinated visualizations. Dr...
متن کاملTowards Supporting Exploratory Search over the Arabic Web Content: The Case of ArabXplore
Due to the huge amount of data published on the Web, the Web search process has become more difficult, and it is sometimes hard to get the expected results, especially when the users are less certain about their information needs. Several efforts have been proposed to support exploratory search on the web by using query expansion, faceted search, or supplementary information extracted from exte...
متن کاملSRS browser: a visual interface to the sequence retrieval system
This paper presents a novel approach to the visual exploration and navigation of complex association networks of biological data sets, e.g., published papers, gene or protein information. The generic approach was implemented in the SRS Browser as an alternative visual interface to the highly used Sequence Retrieval System (SRS) [1]. SRS supports keyword-based search of about 400 biomedical data...
